It rained a ton and it was pretty windy, but not as dramatic as a good thunderstorm. There's just something about thunder and lightning that really add to the feel. Just wind & rain made it feel like a quick afternoon shower (that hung on for several hours). I'm sure if we'd had winds over 60 mph instead of the 30-40 it would've been a different story. ehoffman: Whenever we cover earthquakes in class I always tell my kids I'd love to experience a massive 9.0 style earthquake, given the conditions that I'm in the middle of an open field when it happens and no one else suffers injury or property damage.
