About

I’m in my 7th year of teaching, though I’ve just relocated from Michigan (where I taught for 6 years at Whitmore Lake High School) to Connecticut (at Fitch High School) As I’ve progressed as a teacher I’ve been drawn more and more towards the digital realm for so many reasons. However, my goal is to utilize technology in a way that improves student learning through more effective teaching. As such, technology is simply one (often very effective) method of many to accomplish this.

Through this blog I hope to share my struggles, successes, and thoughts. I encourage your feedback; both positive and negative. One of the wonderful things about this format is the ability for readers to interject their own thoughts and ideas. I hope to learn much from those who stop by to read what I’ve written.

Hi there Ben,

My name is Andre and I’m currently working on behalf of Intel’s Inspire Education Series. This campaign is designed to engage more people to help improve the quality of education around the world. The videos highlight the elements of education that people find inspirational, focusing on personal stories to inspire people to act in their own way.

I’m contacting you because Intel Inspire has recently released their first two videos in a series with noted personalities that I thought you might be interested in featuring on Sustainably Digital.

In the first video, Omar Benson discusses his childhood and individuals who inspired him to do his best in life. The second video shows Sarah Culberson who after discovering that she is of royal African descent, goes on to form an educational foundation for children in Africa.

The current videos are embeddable and can be viewed at the following YouTube links:

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the videos and what Intel is doing to inspire the world of education!

Best,

Andre

Hi,

I’m a science teacher at an inner city school in London, England.

I have been running a “collaborative blog” and film project at http://www.whyscience.co.uk which seeks to find a satisfying answer to the question “why is science important?”. Please take a look and forward the link to anyone else who might be interested.

Thanks,

Alom Shaha
